'A little smut goes a long way'

I've a piece in today's Sydney Morning Herald, 'A little smut goes a long way'.

I'm discussing the significance of Channel Seven's Hung series, from HBO: a show about a man with a big dick. A sample:
My point is not that Hung is dull or badly written. It is that, as television, the series is uncontroversial from the start. It is no threat to the status quo. Networks like a little controversy, but it is fake: the transgressions trivial, the alarm fleeting. It is not about shocking, it is about market share. Like Ray's customers, they just want to get it up.
