The Meaning of Friendship

What sort of a friend are you? A drinking buddy? A fuck buddy? A virtual conversationalist? A soulmate? All or none of the above? What's valuable in you? And what do you value in others?

In The Meaning of Friendship, Mark Vernon offers a revised edition of The Philosophy of Friendship - including new discussions of online friendships, and ideas from evolutionary psychology.

As part of this re-release, Mark and Palgrave Macmillan have a little quiz, 'What's your friendship type?'

I'm sure Mark will agree: the quiz can't provide a profound analysis. But it's surprisingly challenging, in only a handful of questions. With its forced choices, the quiz encouraged me to think clearly about my few friendships - to be clear about why and how I love, and not to befog this with flattering ideals.
